Introduction. Passing industrial (pre-graduation) practices by senior students of educational institutions of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia is an important condition for ensuring the quality of their preparedness for independent service activities. The study of reviews of interns of employees of territorial divisions of internal affairs bodies, under whose supervision they worked, reviews of teachers and reports of trainees showed the presence of a number of methodological problems. In turn, the specificity of the identified pedagogical difficulties predetermined the need to improve the epistemological and praxeological functions in the methodology of pedagogical activities of supervisors of training practices and the general need to modernize the practical training of students in educational institutions of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia. Methods. The study used survey, questionnaire and interview methods. The article presents the results of the analysis of data obtained through surveys of practice managers appointed by the educational organization and requests from the trainees themselves. The study examined the pedagogical difficulties encountered by practice managers and the difficulties encountered by trainees in developing professional competencies, the nature of such difficulties and the reasons for their occurrence. Information on the professional and pedagogical difficulties of practice managers is compared with data on the difficulties of trainees. Results. Proposals are formulated to improve the preparation and conduct of industrial practices for students of educational organizations of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia – future district police officers. In particular, modernized practical tasks have been developed to facilitate the formation of professional competencies.
