On December 15, 2023, the annual international scientific and practical conference XII Baltic Legal Forum «Law and order in the third millennium» was held at the Kaliningrad branch of the Saint-Petersburg University of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia. During the plenary session and the thematic sections, topical issues of preventing, investigating and solving crimes were discussed; criminal legal, criminological and tactical features of the fight against crime; problems of legal regulation of relations between society and the state; directions for improving professional training for law enforcement agencies. The conference included an exchange of views on a wide range of issues related to the development of Russian statehood, changes in the geopolitical world order, the state of crime in Russia and abroad, and the introduction of innovations in the prevention, investigation and detection of crimes. More than 120 applications for participation in the conference were submitted to the organizing committee. Its participants were representatives of scientific and educational organizations of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia, other law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, and foreign scientists. The expansion of the geography of scientific representation at the conference was made possible by the use, in addition to the face-to-face format of participation, of video-conferencing capabilities. At the end of the conference, its participants adopted a resolution in which they emphasized the need for further development and strengthening of international and interdepartmental cooperation in order to solve problems of scientific support for law enforcement activities.
