On the results of an empirical study of the psychological characteristics of the semantic sphere of the personality of those convicted of corruption crimes Relevance of the research topic. The article presents some results of an empirical study of the psychological characteristics of the semantic sphere of the personality of those convicted of corruption crimes. The aim of the study was to study the psychological characteristics of the semantic sphere of those convicted of corruption crimes. The study was conducted on the basis of PKU IK-3 and IK-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ryazan region. It was attended by 160 male convicts serving sentences in correctional institutions of the penitentiary system. The scientific problem is to determine the psychological characteristics of those convicted of corruption crimes, taking into account their semantic sphere. Research methods and techniques. To identify the psychological characteristics of the semantic sphere of those convicted of corruption crimes, the following set of methods and techniques was used: “Value Questionnaire” by Sh. Schwartz, “Semantic Basic Attitudes” by A. D. Ishkov and N. G. Miloradova. The results of the study are to identify the following distinguishing features of those convicted of corruption crimes: independence in achieving goals, the ability to self-control, the presence of high selfesteem, the lack of desire to selflessly help other people, as well as to assist, serve the common good, neglecting their own benefit. They are self-confident and tend to dominate others. Patient, independent, determined and emotionally stable. They have a healthy self-esteem, a normal reaction to criticism. They disdain social norms, and material wealth for them is an end in itself.
