Victimisation of schoolchildren as an anthropological basis for the prevention of deviant risks
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
Introduction. The study of victimisation in the aspect of preventing the emergence of deviant risks is relevant not only as a fundamental scientific problem, but also as an applied task of ensuring the security of the country and its citizens. Obtaining modern data on this problem should serve as an anthropological basis for preventing the maladaptation and deviance of pupils. The purpose of this work is to present data on the state of victimisation among schoolchildren in the aspect of its consideration as an anthropological basis for preventing unsafe behaviour and deviant risks. The theoretical basis of the analysis is the concept of victimisation as a deviation from the norms of safe behaviour and as a maladaptive style of response. Methods. The empirical study was conducted on a sample of 740 pupils in grades 1–11 in the towns where PhosAgro operates. An adapted screening questionnaire of schoolchildren’s victim behaviour (30 binary items) was used, developed on the basis of the multidimensional model of victimisation by O.O. Andronnikova and supplemented with scales of deceitfulness, data on gender, age, class, town and general information about the families of the pupils. Victimisation was studied as a monitoring characteristic of school vulnerability, potentially associated with deviant risks. Descriptive statistics, calculation of six meaningful subscales, clustering (K-means), and correlation analysis were used for analysis. Results. The most common features are not direct signs of victimisation, but background risk markers: impulsive actions, expectation of help from adults, passivity in a situation of aggression, difficulties in accepting comments, and uncertainty about the ability to cope with a difficult situation. Signs of actual victimisation are observed in a smaller number of schoolchildren. Based on the results of exploratory clustering, three interpretable profiles of victim risk markers were identified: a high-risk profile, a dependent-hypersocial profile, and a moderate-risk profile with elements of impulsivity. Profiles differ in the severity of emotional vulnerability, impulsivity, aggressive and realised traits. Age-related features of vulnerability determine not a linear increase in victimisation with age, but a change in the structure of risk markers.
